Large, versatile, and easy to clean up
The Foreman 360 Grill is a very versatile indoor grill suitable for large families. I've already made several recipes including grilled sliced potatoes, numerous paninis, steak, pancakes, Italian sausage, hamburgers, grilled cheese, sausage and eggs, and pancakes. I also used the grill to reheat half of a leftover Domino's pizza. Everything came out excellent, and the cooking plates were easy to clean. Although they claim the cooking plates are dishwasher safe, I found it super easy to wash up in the sink.

The grill fit 5 quarter pound hamburgers, so it was far better than our smaller indoor grill which only held 2 burgers at a time. The cooking surface was exactly the same size as a medium Domino's pizza, so when we had half a pizza leftover I was surprised it fit so well. The pancakes also cooked faster than the stove top because I was able to close the grill and let them get heat from both plates.

I do have a few recommendations that could have improved my experience:

This doesn't have an on/off switch or a timer. My old indoor grill had a timer, and when the time was up it dinged and turned itself off. Once I forgot I was cooking up the rest of the pancake batter and came back a half hour later to a well-done pancake. With this grill, you have to use your stove timer and unplug the grill when you are finished.

Since the plates are non-stick I designated a few microfiber cloths to be stacked in between the plates when stored. It would have been nice if a soft cloth storage bag with dividers was included to keep the plates clean and protected from scratches.

The instruction book contained six recipes, but it would have been fantastic if at least a couple dozen recipes were included, including the recipes shown on the box.

Finally, not such a big deal for me since I have a kitchen island, but this grill will not work well in galley kitchens with cabinets overhead. The clearance needed with the grill completely open is 19.5" minimum.

Overall I'm very happy with the grill because it can cook so many different things. Also, I love the large size. It has cut my cooking time in half because now I don't have to just cook 2 steaks or burgers at a time, I can now cook for the entire family at once.

A grill, not an oven
I'm going to get all my all my gripes out of the way first. Several reviewers have already talked about the annoying sticker. I pulled mine off with my fingers and used Goo Gone to get the remainder.

The operating temperature of the grill varies widely. I used an infrared thermometer to measure the heat the grill produces. On "high" the temperature tops out around 450. But the temperature must drop by over 200 degrees before the grill cycles back on again. It's not unusual for modern appliances to have swings of 50 degrees or more, but 200 degrees is a lot. It explains why the grill seems slow at times. If you want your food to be done quickly, put it in the grill just as the green ready light goes off, when the grill is hottest. One good thing, the grill was uniform, never varying more than 20 to 30 degrees from edge to edge. No cold or hot spots.

The round shape and large size means that this grill takes a lot of room on your counter. When you try to stand it open, you find it is too tall to fit under overhead cabinets. The only way it will work in my kitchen is to place it directly in front of the outlet I want to use (it has a short cord), and turn the unit 90 degrees so that the hinge is perpendicular to the edge of the cabinet and the lid opens left to right allowing it to clear the overhead cabinet.

Even while you're using the grill, you must store the extra plates. They're over 12" in diameter plus the handles, and they don't stack easily. They're too big to store vertically in some cabinets. The manual warns not to use metal instruments on the Teflon surfaces, so stacking the plates against each other would seem just as bad. I used paper plates as a cushion between the grill plates.

There are 5 interchangeable grill plates. Two quesadilla plates, an upper and a lower grill plate, and a bake pan that is used with the upper grill plate. So there are three configurations you can make; quesadilla grill, regular grill and bake pan. Of these, the bake pan is the least useful. With the other configurations, the upper plate comes in direct contact with the food, greatly speeding up the cooking process. With the baking pan the top plate radiates heat to the food, but doesn't touch it. A frozen pizza, a DiGiorno Ultimate Thin Crust, took nearly an hour to cook, about three times what it would take in a regular oven. The crust came out crispy, but also tough and thick. All in all, the George Foreman Grill is best when used as a grill and not an oven.

Still, for all these gripes, I'm only taking away one star because what the grill does well, it really does well.

Hamburgers, the most obvious food to make in a grill, come out perfect every time. I have to admit, I was surprised how much fat came off a single 1/3 pound patty. The same is true for steaks. There is a difference in flavor when foods are pan fried in their own fat and when they're grilled. As an amateur cook, I appreciate appliances that make cooking a no-brainer.

By far, though, my favorite thing to do with the George Foreman Grill is to press sandwiches. My favorite? Shaved brown sugar cured ham, shaved beef salami, provolone and creamy italian dressing on a ciabatta roll. After I assemble the sandwich, I put it in the grill and, for a short time, I use light pressure on the lid to press the sandwich. It doesn't take a lot of pressure, gravity does most of the work. I'm eating one of these sandwiches as I write this. It's crunchy on the outside, hot and gooey on this inside. It makes me wonder what other varieties would be good. Ham and cheddar with ranch? Plain old grilled cheese? Mozzarella and pepperoni with pizza sauce? I bet that would turn out far better than a frozen pizza made with the bake pan.

Sometimes the sandwiches spill over, but the removable grill plates are dishwasher safe. The manual warns that the backs of the plates will darken in the dishwasher but I can't imagine why anyone would care. The back of the grill plates aren't finished anyway. The accessories (drip tray and spatula) are dishwasher safe too. About that spatula, at first it seems like a flimsy afterthought. Once you use it, it seems well though out. Perfect for, say, scooping a pressed sandwich off the grill.

My experience with this George Foreman Grill was a lot like this review. I didn't really like it until I used it enough to discover its talents. It's not a baking tool. (I wish it weren't marketed as such.) It's a poor pizza oven. But It's a great grill, a great sandwich press, and fun to boot. I think it would be fun to invite friends over to assemble and press their own sandwiches.

I recommend it if you have three or four mouths to feed. For one or two people consider a smaller model.

SUPER GREAT GRILL!
I LOVE this grill. If you like making your own HOMEMADE quesadillas and pizza, your gonna LOVE the grill. Also.....for those of you who have read all the reviews from people who had problems with the sticker on the top of the grill--NO WORRIES--!! The sticker came off EASILY, just pull SLOW. It all came off in one piece, with NO gummy residue. BUY THIS GRILL---you will NOT BE SORRY!!

Several Design Flaws
I too had an issue with the HUGE sticky label that was difficult to remove. The power cord was too short constraining choice of cooking area. The handle jutted out too far making it impossible to open under standard cabinet clearance. When you close it the platters do not meet correctly unless jostled into place.

The plates were easy to clean, fits in the dishwasher just like a dinner plate and the plates heat up quickly holding the temperature well. The unit is very attractive. I returned this unit because it was just not practical for my kitchen.

not as good as earlier Foreman grills
I've used and loved Foreman grills for years. I had one of the first generation grills and then replaced it with one that had removable plates. This 360 version is my third Foreman grill, but it is by far the worst of the three, although there are still some good points to it.

The first and biggest problem is the temperature. It just doesn't get hot enough! Nothing gets brown and if you have to cook in batches, it will cool off so much by the second batch -- even if the green ready light is on -- that the food takes forever to cook. So far I have tried quesadillas with the quesadilla press plates and the tortilla never got brown and crispy. The grill plates were used a few times, once on fish which didn't get those attractive grill marks that previous Foreman grills would have imparted. I used the grill plates again on bacon-wrapped shrimp and had several soggy pieces of bacon even after cooking for over twice as long as required.

A second problem is that some plates don't have a good fit. The top grill plate is very loose and wobbly even when it's connected properly. I made a pizza in the grill (using refrigerated dough and homemade toppings) and while it tasted just fine, the top grill plate didn't fit right and the lid wouldn't close properly. The back part of the pizza near the hinge was dark brown while the front part of the pizza was hardly brown at all.

Another problem is the size and the short power cord. Because the unit is round and has the handle on it, it takes up more counter space. You don't have a flat side to scoot up next to the wall as you could previous versions. Also, the unit is quite tall and you can't open it fully when it's anywhere near a cabinet. Combine these size issues with the extremely short power cord, and I almost have nowhere in the kitchen to use this grill.

The good: The plates do wash up nicer than in earlier Foreman grills. The pizza won't stick to the pan at all, and the marks in the quesadilla press are pretty handy. It's an attractive unit. The handle is bulky but otherwise handy.

I think this is a great idea for a grill, just executed poorly. Part of the appeal of a tabletop grill is to get grilled taste and appearance indoors, and the 360 simply doesn't achieve that.

Excellent DVD player - highly recommend

Couldn’t be happier…..
This is my first portable DVD player– I have resisted this particular gadget for a while now, but a really good deal at Amazon pushed me over the edge. I am VERY suprised and pleased with the picture quality as well as extra features mentioned by other reviewers here. The sound quality is fine, to me, and a headset would cover situations where external noise is a problem. This is a neat little gadget which I am sure I will enjoy for a while to come. Can’t imagine getting a whole lot more for more $$$$.

Not loud enough.
We bought this DVD player to use in the car with the kids (we log thousands of traveling miles per year). Unfortunately, as other reviewers have mentioned, the audio volume is not loud enough for this purpose. At max volume setting, it just barely competes with road/tire noise. This is an unforgivable limitation for a portable unit, I’m afraid, so much so that I am compelled to deduct 2 stars for this issue alone.

Otherwise, this unit excels in video quality, usability, and convenience. These features deserve a 5-star rating, but have been severely handicapped by substandard audio reproduction. LG, fix this issue, the rest of the player deserves better.

Awesome customer service
Bought this dvd player a little less than a year ago. A few weeks ago it quit on me. I called LG and a real person actually answered the phone. Instructed me to send it back with $45 since it was out of warranty and they would replace the whole machine for free and send me a new one. I called today to make sure it got there, again, got a real live person’s voicemail, left a message thinking I would have to call again in a few days, and a few hours later, a very nice lady called me. My player was on back order but she said if I wanted to wait a few more days she’d send me a newer version with a bigger screen for free. It’s so rare today to find good customer service from an electronics company. I’m an LG fan!

Great Picture, Miserable Audio Volume
This DVD player was purchased to use in our vehicle on long trips. The picture is great! But if you want to use this DVD Player in a vehicle, the volume is not loud enough to hear oven minor background noise. Even with headphones attached to the unit, audio is barely audible.

LG tech support says this unit was designed to be used at home, not in a car. Why advertise it as portable then? I assumed portable meant you could use it anywhere. Evidently not.

If you want a truly portable device, I would look elsewhere.

Disappointing
We bought this product for our 14 year old son to be able to use at horseshows. He only ways 85lbs so he is well under the max weight. He took it outside to try and it barely could get up the mild incline of our driveway. It did not go on the grass at all. I am going to try to return it. We are very disappointed because the specs make it sound like it should be perfect for us.

This motercycle is very good and fun. It delivered fast and the process was easy.

Amazon told me they would pull this product off the shelf!
I bought 2 of these for my twins. One bike worked, the other not at all. Amazon replaced it nicely. The one I received in exchanged did not work either! Then Amazon told me they would not give me a 3rd one as they needed to invesigate the product. They told me to ship it back. I did; then was told I would not receive ANY refund for the product as it was a few days over the 2 month guarantee. Now I see it still advertised here….good luck is all I can tell you. Amazon, I thought, was a great and fair company to deal with…I will never order from them again. The Razor was defective, but Amazon did not give me any compensation (like a partial refund,even)even after they told me to return it.

Floor Attachment review
This product works very well. I have to set it on the high setting vice the low one as the suction power makes it hard to move across my wood floors. It is very effective on the high setting and makes it easy to get under most furniture pieces with the exception of very low clearance items. Essentially gives you the capability of a canister with an upright. Good product, fits with the dyson slim with the included adapters.

All I can say is my housekeeper loves it. She says it does a terrific job on both the carpets and hardwood floors. When she is happy I am happy. Regards. WS

Great Product
I purchased this product because I didn’t like lying on the floor to do under my king size bed and it works great. I feel it should have been included in the price of the sweeper because Dyson’s are expensive and to spend another 50.00 dollars is a little steep. Linda

This camcorder makes it really easy to upload your videos on to your computer or the web too. You just flip out the USB 2.0 arm and plug it into your computer like a mini external drive. You can then directly upload your video to youtube, myspace or any other video-sharing website without having to transfer it to your computer. Or you can just upload it to your computer. It also comes with video cable to watch your video on a TV which can be a plus on a vacation.

Here’s what I like about this camcorder:

– Takes HD video (720p) in 16:9 ratio, picture is very sharp especially when viewed on a computer screen or LCD TV.
– Super sleek and easy to carry in a pocket or small purse. Weighs only 3.3 ounces and is 50% slimmer than the earlier Ultra series Flip Video Ultra Series Camcorder, 60-Minutes (Black). And Mino also has 4GB capacity compared to 2GB of Ultra - although both take 60 minutes of video
– Controls are super-easy, really child’s play. A simple press of the big red button records video. The +/- signs operate the digital zoom and the left/right arrows scroll through videos. Touching the trash can button deletes a video. That’s it!
– Good performance in low light - although one wishes for some sort of extra light source sometimes, this camcorder performs above average in low light
– Sound is good especially given the size. The sound syncs well with the picture too. The videos I shoot with my digital camera sometimes go out of sync but not with the flip.
– Easily charged through your computer, has a Li-ion battery as opposed to the Flip Ultra that used 2 AA batteries
– Creates MP4 video with good compression so the files are not huge, easy to load files into youtube or your computer. The upload feature seems to be faster than the previous Flip Ultra. Video uploads can be slow but Flip seems to make good time with its H.264 video and AAC sound compression which is stored as a MP4 file.
– Software drivers are on the camcorder drive so you’re good to go with any PC or MAC
– Included Flipware can be used to edit/share/organize video files. I don’t use it though, I just drag and drop the files to my computer, so easy
– The camera is smooth and sleek and self-contained which makes it fairly rugged compared to the super sensitive traditional camcorders.
–Comes with a basic soft carrying pouch although you may prefer to buy a separate case.

Here’s what I don’t like:

– Zoom is limited at 2X digital zoom. It’s great for making videos of people right in front of you but if you’re trying to record a performance from a distance prepare to be disappointed.
– Given basic controls it’s also difficult to zoom in as smoothly as my Sony MiniDV camcorder to capture people’s facial expressions without noticeable camera shake and repositioning. I find Flip is best for mostly fixed focus videos.
– Due to higher definition video, camera shake can also be more pronounced. A tripod or putting the camera on a flat surface will help minimize shake.
– Li-ion battery replacement is only available through the Flip Support as of now, the earlier Ultra series used the widely available AA batteries
– The 1.5″ screen makes it difficult to see what you’re recording at times. Since there is no tilt like traditional camcorders it is also not possible to hold the camera over your head and shoot something. Although FLIP says the screen is trans-reflective, it can be hard to see in bright sunlight.

Overall, I like this camcorder for its super sharp videos and ease of use. A high end camcorder may be nice for very special occasions but it’s not possible to carry my bigger camcorder at all times. This camcorder is easy to take everywhere and takes videos with better resolution and smaller file sizes than any digital camera with the video function. It makes it that much easier to upload and share these videos with your friends and family.

I have found myself capturing more moments on video since I started using the Flip camcorders. These moments would have never got on video if I did not have the Flip camcorder which I could pull out and turn on in a few seconds!

Great little camera
Just got this little camera today. Great video quality and good sound.
The video is very good in dim light. Really like the size, you can take it anywhere. Bought it for upcoming vacation.

There are no more excuses for missing the moment. This camera isn’t designed for producing major motion pictures, but it does a terrific job of being available, while being ridiculously easy to use. It will be tossed into the purse for recording moments at gatherings.

I would say that the “HD” designation is mildly exagerrated, but the picture quality is better than what I get from the Sony miniDV Handicam (which does a nice job), but with far less aggravation when it comes to importing and viewing. And I have never thrown the miniDV into my purse to capture a moment at a gathering. This Flip MinoHD, I doubt if I’ll ever leave home without it.

Auto-focus is first-rate. It automatically adjusts for lighting conditions and does a good job in dim light. The sound quality is not exceptional, but it isn’t exceptional on any home video camera I’ve ever used, either. Still, it picked up my granddaughter’s voice from across the yard without distortion. I haven’t tried to edit the video yet, but the included software is straightforward when it comes to storing and viewing videos. The camera also comes with a cord to connect to your TV.

It is what it is and at a very reasonable price. This thing…this is truly a score. Oooo oooo, I have to get a DryPak so I can use it in the pool…!

UPDATE:
A potential customer asked a question in the discussion area. I answered, but include it here as well in case others are curious, too. The question — how does the video compare between TV or HDTV, and a computer monitor.

I tried four different screens — a 42″ plasma flatscreen, a 42″ lcd flatscreen, a regular old-style TV and an lcd computer monitor.

The old-style TV, I wasn’t surprised, was “grainy,” to use an old-fashioned term. The plasma was disappointing. The particular model I own didn’t allow me to shrink the video to its natural size, so the picture was blown up edge to edge and that caused the picture to degrade. (DVDs on that TV are great, by the way.) Your plasma might operate differently and therefore, offer better results.

The lcd TV allowed viewing the videos at natural (large) size, best quality of all, although even full size it looked great. And the computer monitor was great, too.

If your potential gift recipient is a casual videographer as most of us are, they won’t be disappointed. Fancy themselves as the next Baz Luhrmann and the Flip will promptly find itself on the return pile.

Magellan 4250 refurbished
This was my first GPS ever purchased. It was a gift for my wife. The unit kept freezing and rebooting both when using different functions and when it was sitting idle. Returned it for a refund. Shouldn’t have gone the refurb route.

Five star plus
Have used this product heavily since purchasing and it has done everything perfectly- as advertised. This was a replacement for a Magellan Roadmate 700(North America). I feel as if I made a perfect purchase in buying this product. Quite frankly, I didn’t pay enough for it. Wonderful deal and product. The only negative may be the bluetooth feature, but that was not an important part of my reasoning to buy it.

cheap system, works ok
nice receiver, except for the fact you can’t get audio thru the HDMI connections over the system, they are pass-thru to tv only. you have to make seperate connections from your tv’s audio out or your input devices to the reciever to hear anything. I’m not an audio expert, but I don’t think you really get the full Dolby 7.1 stuff by using the lesser-capable connection methods to the audio receiver. for what it does do, it sounds good.

Onkyo - Oh My
This is a fantastic system. I am using a Samsung 37″ 1080P, XBOX, Blu Ray, and my computer on this system. I love it. Loud, crisp and does not run too hot. I bought the onkyo front speaker stands and wall mounts for the rears. This system rock. I bought the Monster wire and clips to replace the standard speaker wire for this unit and the Onkyo wireless module so I can stream Yahoo radio and iTunes to it - Amazing. I never want to leave my house again. If you are ‘considering’ this unit, GET IT! Simple set up also, the MANUAL explains everything very well.

Like it today, will hate it in the future
If you intend to use this with a DVD player using coax or optical connectors, then this system will be great. The is my current set up and I like the quality of sound and the ease of set up.

But my praise ends there. With the understanding that this unit has HDMI (plastered on the box and on the receiver), I was confident that I would be able to plug the Sony S-350 into the HDMI port and be able to enjoy the lossless format from Dolby. Regardless what the Circuit City sales guy had to say, this system is NOT capable of playing lossless formats. This was confirmed when I called Onkyo technical support.

As an alternative, I thought that I could buy a Blu Ray deck that has analog outputs. I would then connect it to the analog inputs on the receiver. Though you would think that the lossless formats would work, Onkyo technical support insists that it will not produce what I am looking for.

In sum, I suggest that those who are looking to migrate to Blu Ray should consider the HTS-6100 and be ready for the future.

Unit Died After 1 Week
Unit played 3 Blu Ray discs fine on the first day. One week later, the unit did not play Blu Ray discs, telling me the discs were unknown. (Tried on the same 3 discs) Tried a system update but no luck. Unit still played DVDs.

BDP S350 - Simple elegance
I purchased this product after much research and am very pleased with the Sony BDP S350. I have used this player for about a month now and have zero issues to report. In other reviews, I have read statement about long loading times, or freezing problems, or audio issues, I have seen none of these.

Here are what I see as the best attributes of the BDP S350:
1. Ethernet connection - because the formats keep changing, this is a must for anyone that wants a hassle-free bluray experience. Updating the firmware couldn't be easier. During initial setup, the intuitive setup wizard detected that a more recent firmware version was available and automatically prompted me to download it.
2. Upconversion - this player does a terrific job of making standard DVDs look even better.
3. Load time - the player normally displays a movie in less than 30 seconds and this is without the "quick boot" option which leaves the player on constantly so that it can load movies more quickly.

My only minor disapointment is with the audio. I read all of the hype about bluray movies improving the audio experience as much as the visual experience, but I can't say that I agree with any of that. I do have a new (less than 6 mos old) system that cost around ,000 that does include a Yamaha 663 reciever capable of decoding DTS Master Audio and Dolby TrueHD, but I can't hear a difference in audio quality between bluray and regular DVD movies. I have checked to ensure that I have all of the settings correct as well. This is only a minor disappointment, because the system still sounds AWESOME. My wife still gets freaked out every time she hears glass breaking right next to or behind her. It is great.

In summary, the Sony BDP S350 is an excellent blu ray player for ease of setup, ease of use, and image quality

Great picture, Easy upgrade to v2.0, does what it is supposed to
Been watching the price of this for a few weeks (I should have bought in November!), and resolved myself to pay the 269 @ amazon. Fast shipping from amazon, as always, and installed it that night. Player itself was easy to hook up, and sound was great too. I admit, I have a relatively old receiver, so I'm probably not getting as much as I could be.

Works good, remote is ok, but I don't use it anyway (harmony 550 remote is great though). Picture is great, and upgrade went smoothly, via burned ISO disk. When will vendors realize we all don't have high speed hard wire connections next to my TV. not even an option to hook up via USB network card. There are a lot of other people who are big A/V nuts, I'll just say that it does a good job of presenting both HD and regular titles, and is pretty fast to load (~ 15-20 seconds). Amazon was great as always - definitely recommend them.

I almost dinged the player, but decided the lack of interesting extras on the 3-4 blu ray titles I've watched wasn't sony's fault (casino royale, hellboy 2, star wars clone wars, and some other movie). I expected to be wowed by all the new 'stuff', but instead, appreciated the better picture & that was about it. For those upgrading for new gadgetry, enjoy - otherwise, your regular dvd player is just fine, the premium you pay for blu ray will be a bit of a disappointment.

Worth the $ Spent
I must say that SONY quality is incompetent and many reasons have been stated by the previous reviewers. Before buying, you must understand the difference between the BDP-S350 vs. 250 one. This unit has many outputs and network enabled feature which adds a great way of streaming videos from external sources (Internet).

So far I have played two Blu-Ray Movies -- Night at the Museum and Quantum of Solace, very satisfied with the output.

When purchasing SONY Blu-Ray player, it is best to buy in combo with a SONY TV since they work very well together. I am giving it a 5 for the quality and pricing. Got it for 0.00 SHIPPED.

Incredible picture, but slow load times!
If you are looking for a great buy and a quality product, search no more! This player will provide you with incredible picture on a 1080p TV. It is much smaller that the 300. I'm still not sure what to do with the BD live feature, but something tells me that it will come in handy one day.

No idea how dirty my carpets were until this
I honestly thought my old vacuum was doing the job…until it died and I immediately (off of friend’s recommendation) purchased the Dyson DC07. I could not believe how much this vacuum picked up, even after I had vacuumed the day before with my old GE.

Proof is definitely in the brush. I have to cut off my long hair and the cat hair that gets wound around the brush. I have to do this about 2 times a month. This puppy really gets the gunk. I have 3 small kids, 1 cat, and about 1900 square feet they run around and this thing is amazing thus far. I’ve had it 4 months. I’d highly recommend it.

Great Vacuum
I do wish that I had bought this long ago! It is worth the money. It is easy to use! I would suggest this for anyone with animals!

Best Vaccum, Hands Down
I thought it might be handy for those considering this Dyson (or any other Dyson for that matter), to read a review from a longtime owner. I purchased this model in May 2004 after yet another in a long string of vacuums decided to die on me. The price was a little daunting, but ultimately well worth it. What I’ve learned in my four years of owning a DC07 is this:

1) Just like Mr. Dyson proclaims on his commercials, it NEVER loses suction. Ever. All you need to do is empty the canister when it’s full (push a button, carry the released canister to the nearest trashcan and pull a trigger), and clean out the little filter sponge every six months as directed in the user manual. Other than tiny bit of maintenance, this beast will suck up every unwanted item on your carpets and hardwood. I know I’ve read some users saying it doesn’t work well on non-carpeted surfaces, but my house is mostly hardwood (and some icky, ancient Formica), and I’ve yet to have a problem–and I’m one of those neurotic tri-weekly vacuuming types who can’t stand to see a fleck of lint on the floor.

2) It can take a beating. Now, I’m not saying you should chuck the thing down the stairs to see if it bounces, but if you vacuum the way I do, then furniture, walls and all sorts of other things get slammed into on a regular basis. Not to worry; this vacuum can handle it. Mine has a few scuffs here and there, but no broken parts in the four years I’ve regularly used/abused it.

3) Cat hair has no chance–that is, with the regular vacuum part. The “Animal” attachment is less than useful and I’ve given up on messing with it; the little brushes inside spin and spin, and do nothing at all. It’s the biggest drawback of this vacuum: not being able to use the extension on furniture. But honestly, I’ve come to realize lifting up the vacuum and going over the sofa not only works just as well, I’ve also gained some nice guns out of the deal.

4) Cleaning out jams in the brush (and you’ll know if you’ve got one because the machine makes a horrific racket to alert you) and in the unit itself is very easy. All areas in which something could be hiding are accessible by levers and buttons that allow you to snap off the various components to locate the clog. No screwdrivers or rocket scientists necessary.

5) The telescoping wand is a little strange, as it both is and is inside the handle mechanism. To use it at its full length you have to fully remove it from the extension tube and then flip it around and snap the other end of it in place instead of being able to just fully extend the wand right where it is. I’m completely used to it now, but new users will wonder what the heck Mr. Dyson was thinking (and constantly worry about the chance of lamp damage from swinging the thing around like a majorette in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade). This design flaw has been fixed with subsequent models, I believe.

So, that’s it. Aside from an odd color choice (purple? really?), the non-functional animal hair attachment and the weird way the wand extends, I’m in love. This machine has outlasted and outperformed every vacuum I’ve ever had. I’ll never buy anything but a Dyson ever again.
